The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE, http://www.chalmers.se/cse/EN/) at Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg announces a position of Assistant Professor with tenure track (Swedish "biträdande lektor") in the area of Natural Language Technology (http://www.cse.chalmers.se/research/group/Language-technology/). The position is associated with the Centre for Language Technology (CLT, http://clt.gu.se/), which is a focus area of research of the University of Gothenburg, and affiliated at the CSE Department at the University of Gothenburg.

Application deadline: 27 April 2010.

CLT researcher Rebecca Jonson will take part in a panel on Advanced Speech Recognition Techniques and Experiences at this year's SpeechTEK Europe.  Rebecca is a graduate student at the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science and the Graduate School of Language Technology (GSLT).  She is Research Manager at Artificial Solutions.

Dimitrios Kokkinakis presented CLT and discussed issues related to how Language Technology can be used to mine clinical text, at a workshop organised by Gothia Forum with the title "Artificial Intelligence and Medical Research". The title of Dimitri's presentation: "Klinisk forskning och språkteknologi - Utmaningar, möjligheter, behov".

Robin Cooper has been elected to Academia Europaea

Academia Europaea is a European Academy of Humanities, Letters and Sciences.  Members are drawn from across the whole European continent.  Current membership stands at around 2000. Amongst them are thirty-eight Nobel Laureates, several of whom were elected to the Academia before they received the prize.  Invitations are made after peer group nomination, scrutiny and confirmation as to the scholarship and eminence of the individual in their chosen field.

Robin will be inducted at the Academy's annual conference in Naples on 24th September, 2009.
